What to Expect When You Book an Appointment at JT Biokinetics

Your first step toward understanding your body, your movement and your recovery.

When you come to JT Biokinetics, the focus is always on you- your story, your goals, your lifestyle, your history, and the way your body moves. No two people present the same way, even if they share a similar diagnosis. That’s why your assessment and rehabilitation plan are designed around your whole body and your whole story, not just a single symptom.

Whether you’re managing chronic pain, returning to activity after injury, or wanting to perform at your best, here’s what you can expect from your first appointment.

1. Understanding Your Story

The first step is a detailed conversation about you. Julia will take time to listen and understand:

  • what brought you to this point

  • what your current discomfort feels like

  • which movements or activities are challenging

  • how this affects your day-to-day life

  • your past injury, exercise and health history

  • what you want to get back to doing

Even experiences you may think are “irrelevant” can offer crucial insight into how your body has adapted and why pain or limitation has developed over time. Your story provides the essential context for identifying the true drivers behind your symptoms and shaping a treatment plan that makes sense for you.

2. A Whole-Body Movement Assessment

Once Julia has a clear picture of your history, she’ll guide you through a series of movements and assessments. These may include:

  • posture and alignment observations

  • muscle activation and strength checks

  • joint mobility tests

  • coordination and movement pattern analysis

  • task-specific movements related to your goals

Every assessment is adapted to your comfort level and ability. The goal is not to “test” you, but to understand how your body currently moves, compensates, and responds to load, so we can tailor treatment appropriately.

3. Clear Explanation & Your Clinical Roadmap

After gathering both your story and your movement findings, Julia will explain:

  • what she believes is driving your pain or limitation

  • how your body has adapted over time

  • what needs to change to help you progress

  • how biokinetics can support your goals

This is where you’ll begin to see the bigger picture: how lifestyle, previous injuries, biomechanics, conditioning, stress, and daily habits all connect.

Julia will then outline a personalised rehabilitation plan based on your unique needs and goals. This roadmap helps both of you understand what to work on first, which milestones to aim for, and approximately how long it may take to reach your desired outcome.

4. What Follow-Up Sessions Look Like at JT Biokinetics

Every follow-up session begins with a quick reassessment to identify how your movement has changed and what your body needs on that day. Your session may include:

  • targeted strengthening and stabilisation

  • joint mobility or flexibility work

  • movement retraining to reduce compensations

  • coordination and load-tolerance practice

  • sport-specific rehabilitation (e.g., running or cycling)

  • functional conditioning for everyday activities

Each session ends with another movement check to ensure your progress is heading in the right direction. Treatment continues in this structured, responsive way until you reach your goal.

5. What to Wear

Your comfort is important. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. In most cases you will not need to remove clothing, although you may occasionally be asked to roll up sleeves or trousers, or briefly remove a top layer if you are comfortable doing so.

6. If You’re Feeling Unwell

To protect all clients, please let Julia know if:

  • you are feeling unwell

  • you have any symptoms of a contagious illness

  • you have been in close contact with someone recently unwell

If symptoms arise on the morning of your appointment, Julia will discuss the most appropriate plan, which may include rescheduling or offering guidance remotely.

As part of maintaining a safe environment, the treatment room is cleaned between sessions and time management is kept strict. (Toilets are only available in urgent situations.)

7. Payment & Cancellation Policy

To keep everything transparent and simple:

  • Card payments can be made onsite.

  • Cancellations require 24 hours’ notice, otherwise the full session fee may apply.

  • This allows fair diary management and ensures availability for others needing care.

If you have questions about payment, scheduling or treatment plans, you are always welcome to get in touch.
