HOW I HELP YOU
My goal is to help you get back to doing what it is you love doing. Whether that is to run a marathon, enter a tough-mudder challenge, enjoy cycling with a local club on the weekends, carry out gardening comfortably or play with your grandkids.

How do I do this?

-
I listen to your story.
-
I ask about your current situation as well as past experiences.
-
I ask about old injuries or niggles (yes, even that twisted ankle as a kid you’d all but forgotten about).
-
I watch you move and ask you to do certain movements for me.
-
I use a variety of orthopaedic and muscle tests.
-
I take into account past events which could have resulted in emotional or physical stress.
-
I ask about your goal and what it is you want to get back to doing.
-
I develop a plan together with you which includes the types of exercises and predicted time frame.
The plan we put together is to get you back to what you love but, more importantly, to make sure that you build resilience and that this issue does not return. It is not a quick fix but rather a way to ensure you are able to look after your body and function optimally for years to come.

This process is important as being pain free is just a small step in the overall picture. Once pain free, it's important to help you develop your strength in a step by step manner. You don’t build a house by putting the roof on before the walls. Just as you shouldn’t do higher level rehab before your body is ready for the load and intensity. When followed in a step by step manner, only progressing when you are ready, you give yourself the best chance to enjoy what you want to do, as comfortably as possible, without the constant worry of when you’re going to have to stop.
Treatment should not only be reactive but proactive too. The sooner a movement imbalance or niggle can be identified and addressed, the less likely it is to turn into an injury or reduce your efficiency.
